There are a few apartment areas in-work that might be of interest to you outside of directly downtown. Areas near Evergreen (becomes SR-99) are more run-down and sketchy. Generally the West side toward Mukilteo is nicer. You can probably find a better source of information regarding the areas outside the main Everett area. Here is a quick map I put together with my perspective of the Everett city area. The East side is also further away from all the good stuff downtown has to offer. East of Broadway starts becoming diverse with low-income housing, low-capacity apartments, home owners, home rentals, condos, etc. Most of the area from Downtown and North is really good. If I had to do it over again and rent, knowing what I know now, I'd love an apartment downtown or a property in NW Everett. I've been living NE of downtown Everett for over 4 years now. There was a good post about the Everett area in-general not too long ago HERE There is easy access to highway 2 and I-5 when you want to go play in the mountains.Įverett has a lot of charm and access to all the things I love about Washington (Water, Mountains, and Entertainment) so it sounds like a good pick! If your BF works in Marysville, his commute will be opposite of the major traffic which is ideal as well. The waterfront is a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute jog away. The drive to Marysville is a breeze, you will NEVER hit traffic is you work typical hours since it's a reverse commute. North Everett is definitely the place to be if you're younger and work in Marysville or Arlington. Downtown has very few homeless, Everett Ave (close by) and Broadway have a lot more. There are homeless people but they generally keep to themselves. My girlfriend and I both feel perfectly fine walking around late at night by ourselves. YMMV if you feel safe walking around by yourself. Tons of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, gyms, etc. They are all secured and have secured underground parking, so crime isn't a problem. Library Place and Aero are the nicest (and owned by the same company.) Grand Ave Apartments, Lumen, Peninsula, and Artspace Lofts wouldn't be bad either. If you're cool with an apartment, downtown Everett is where you want to be.
